While the San Diego Padres season may not have ended the way their fans had hoped, the Friar Faithful stood by their team and celebrated a great season as they grew closer, cheering for the Padres until the very end. At Tap Truck USA, we love to highlight unique events that our branches play a part in and this time we are swinging it to one of our corporate branches - Tap Truck San Diego!
In March of 2024, the San Diego Padres unveiled the 20 million dollar renovation they made to Petco Park’s Gallagher Square as a part of the stadium's 20th anniversary. Before showcasing the upgrade, Petco Park Events reached out to Tap Truck SD inviting them to bring two trucks to the “Party in the Park” for Gallagher Square’s Grand Re-Opening! On March, 29th the team rolled into the stadium with their pink and teal Volkswagen beer buses leading the way. From then on the rest of the season was history. Petco Park and Tap Truck San Diego created a partnership allowing the SD crew to bring their vintage mobile bars to eight total “Party in the Park” events throughout the season!
Behind the Scenes: Logistics, Planning and Execution
Before every Friday night home game, Gallagher Square at Petco Park transforms into the ultimate pregame party, welcoming thousands of thirsty fans to enjoy ballpark food, live music, and plenty of craft drinks! The Tap Truck San Diego team worked closely with the Petco Park Events crew to ensure each night ran smoothly and the guests experienced an elevated event atmosphere. While the event only goes from gates open to first pitch, Tap Truck San Diego would go through 25 kegs, which is nearly 390 gallons of beer each event! Pouring this much beer in just two hours is no easy task and our SD taptender team could not have done it without all the amazing event staff at Petco Park. Tap Truck San Diego would also like to thank the amazing military volunteers stationed at their trucks to pour beer with precision and keep the fans hydrated! This allowed the Tap Truck personnel to focus on logistics and troubleshooting any issues that came up as they helped create an amazing pregame party! With four kegs tapped in each truck at one time, the SD crew had to manage their beer systems very meticulously to ensure the beverages were flowing smoothly to meet the high demands of fans. This consisted of changing kicked kegs, tightening gas and beer lines, keeping the beer cold, coaching up volunteers, and much more.
San Diego Padres 2024 Season Recap
Fernando Tatis Jr., Manny Machado, and the rest of the Padres squad put up an impressive 2024 campaign as they fought to game 5 of the Nation League Division Series where they lost 2-0 against Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angeles Dodgers. While it wasn’t the exact outcome San Diegans were hoping for, their team left it all on the field, and gave the Friar Faithful so many great moments to cheer for! From thrilling walk-off wins by the 21-year-old Jackson Merrill, to rivalry home runs being robbed at the fence by Jurikson Profar, Padres fans saw flashes of greatness that they hope their team can build upon into next season.

The passion and excitement from Padres fans was on full display throughout each game this season, especially those Friday night home games, which could rival any postseason game atmosphere! The Tap Truck San Diego team could not be more grateful for the opportunity that was presented to them in March and they now look towards continuing this amazing partnership into next season and for many years to come!
